Miracles

When I left off explaining about Josh we were going to be having routine cat scans to determine when he would go into surgery. That didn't quite work as planned. When he came home the pain was intolerable and Josh was so scared and being tortured. The feeding tube and the pain was too much. He was going to have the surgery at McKay Dee when he was ready so we headed straight there. The surgeon did a cat scan when we got there and determined waiting for surgery was going to be a waste of time. They have you wait hoping that the cysts will shrink on their own but the surgeon explained to us that Josh's cysts were EVERYWHERE. They were taking up his whole stomach and he didn't see anything changing except them possibly getting worse so he underwent the surgery. He came out cut from his ribs to below his belly button and with a hole on each side of his stomach with drains coming out of them. Every time I thought I had seen him in the most pain I possibly could it always got worse. The day of surgery was by far the worst. They rolled him back in the room and he looked like he wanted to die. It was so hard to see him like that. Things have gotten a little better every day since. He was in McKay Dee for a little over 3 more weeks and he's been home ever since. He is not back to working yet his last cat scan still showed the cysts were there and have been causing pain but they are much much smaller and should just go away on their own now. There has been so many miracles in our life since January. Really looking back we ended up right where we needed to be for something bad to happen. We have a amazing support system and in our ward have made friends that have been there for us in so many ways. Friends we can't imagine living without. Josh living is the biggest miracle. It's so crazy to see how surprised his doctors were through this whole thing. They really didn't think he would make it. This has been the worst experience we've had so far but there has been things that have been good to come out of it. I am so grateful for the chance to live life every day like it's the last with Josh. I am so grateful for our family and friends that were there for us. Especially the ones that have been there the WHOLE way through. We love you all so much!
